Diploma Course of Studies in Canonical Marriage Cases Jurisprudence and Procedure.

CONFERENTIA EPISCOPALIS MELITENSIS
Curia Archiepiscopalis,
Floriana (Malta)

DECREE
Establishing a «Diploma Course of Studies in Canonical Marriage Cases Jurisprudence and Procedures»

The ever increasing number of marriage nullity cases in our Tribunals and the continual commitment of the Archdiocese of Malta and the Diocese of Gozo towards a better functioning of the judicial service in favour of God’s flock in our Islands, have urged us to offer a course of studies to al those involved in the furtherance of such canonical procedures. Canon Law promotes courses of formation in its disciplines officially recognised for the purpose by the competent organs of the Holy See. The courses we intend to offer by no means constitute an alternative to such formation. Their aim is to help in the formation of all those who are engaged in tribunal work.

It is also our intention that in the future all persons helping in marriage nullity cases, whether as defenders of the bond, lawyers, procurators, curators or auditors, be selected from those who would have frequented at least such a course of formation.

Therefore, by virtue of this Decree, We establish under the auspices and direction of the Metropolitan Tribunal of Malta a «Course of Studies in Canonical Marriage Cases Jurisprudence and Procedure» according to the Statute hereto annexed and hereby approved and promulgated.

Given at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana, on the 21st June 1993.

+ Joseph Mercieca
Archbishop of Malta
President of the Maltese Episcopal Conference

+ Nicholas Cauchi
Bishop of Gozo
